Ollie Watkins emerges as a target for Arsenal's Forward
According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa forward Watkins has entered Arsenal's radar for attacking reinforcements, while Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi has received strong backing from the Gunners' scouting department.
Considering Jesus' injury and some tactical issues, coach Arteta and the Arsenal hierarchy are keen on signing a new forward who can play both on the wing and as a striker this summer. In this scenario, Aston Villa forward Watkins has caught Arsenal's attention. However, given Villa's healthy finances and lack of pressure to sell, the transfer fee for this deal could exceed £70 million, which may not offer good value for money.
In addition to Watkins, players like Jovic, Isak, Toni, and Zielinski also remain within Arsenal's considerations. However, the main challenge Arsenal faces in attacking reinforcements is not necessarily deciding on the player to sign but rather how to lure them away from their current clubs amidst fierce competition and high asking prices.
As for other positions, Arsenal is also considering signing a new midfield anchor to replace Xhaka and discussing the future of left-back Tchernikov within the squad.
The signing of Real Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi has received strong support from Arsenal's scouting department, with the transfer fee for the Spanish international estimated at £50 million. As for Tchernikov, the Ukrainian's future will depend on his performances in the remaining matches of the season and Arteta's decision.
